Camel crickets, cave crickets, spider crickets, sprickets - they go by several different names, all of which are apropos given their creepy appearance. They hide in dark corners and then leap spastically when startled. Their size and ugliness even makes it difficult to force oneself to squash one when the opportunity presents itself. Throughout this piece, I use polytonality, augmented chords, and staccato rhythms to depict the ungainly, unsightly, and altogether undesirable spricket.
